An Invitation to Discover

"Invitation to View offers exclusive tours behind the closed doors of some of the country’s most remarkable places. As part of a small group of like-minded people, you’ll have privileged access to some of Historic Houses’ most private homes.

Tours are usually led by the owners, and you’ll hear fascinating stories about the heroic or villainous exploits of their ancestors or the joys and struggles of caring for a historic building. As honoured guests, you’ll be offered something to eat and drink – from a cream tea to lunch with wine – and have a chance to socialise with the rest of your group and the owner, who will be happy to answer all your questions."

The Dragon Hall has been decorated in the style of a Florentine Palazzo by artist Adam Dant.

To see what a visual and fine dining treat is lined up for you please see the enclosed short 2 minute film: https://vimeo.com/704520748

You'll be welcomed to drinks before dinner in the wonderful Gatehouse gardens of this late-16th century house before moving to the Dragon Banqueting Hall for a delicious four-course dinner.

Parts of Upton Cressett Hall date back to 1380 and it is believed that that the young Edward V, son of King Edward IV, and one of famed ‘Princes in the Tower’, stayed at the early manor in April 1483 on his fateful and hurried journey from Ludlow to the Tower of London.

During dinner you'll be entertained with tales from the food world by William Sitwell as he is grilled by the current incumbent of Upton Cressett, author William Cash.

William Sitwell, the host of the famous Sitwell Supper Club is one of Britain's foremost food writers. Restaurant critic for The Telegraph he has been a regular judge on the BBC hit show MasterChef for almost 20 years.

The dinner will take place in The Dragon Hall and as a diner you'll take your seat, marked with place cards for you and your party, on one of the long tables.

Drinks are from 7pm. Dinner is at 7.30pm sharp. The event ends at 10.30pm.
